Methodology

CFPB Complaint Data

Company complaint counts, response rates, and top issues are sourced from the CFPB Consumer Complaint Database API. We query complaints by company name and calculate timely response percentages from the most recent 100 complaints. Data is refreshed regularly.

Limitations: CFPB data reflects consumer-reported complaints and does not represent all customer experiences. Larger companies typically have more complaints in absolute terms. Complaint volume alone does not indicate the quality of a company's products or services.

Economic Data (FRED)

Interest rates, delinquency rates, and other economic indicators come from the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis (FRED) API. Series include TERMCBCCALLNS (credit card interest rates), DRCCLACBS (delinquency rates), REVOLSL (revolving credit outstanding), and PSAVERT (personal savings rate).

State-Level Data (Census ACS)

Median household income, poverty rates, and population data come from the U.S. Census Bureau's American Community Survey (ACS) 5-Year Estimates. These are the most recent estimates available and may not reflect current conditions.

Credit Score Information

Credit score ranges and factor weightings are based on publicly available information about FICO scoring models. Actual scoring models may weight factors differently. Score ranges and impacts described on this site are general guidelines, not predictions.
